The museums of Wiurila

The museums of Wiurila take you time travelling. You’ll visit the history of the manor and the life of the Armfelt family. The Home Museum and the Horse Carriage Museum are in the marvellous Central Economy Building designed by C. L. Engel. There is also a museum in the Main Building.

Museum tours for groups are conducted with a guide, and the museums can also be explored independently.

Price for guided tours: 25€ / person (Price 250€ also for groups under 10 people.) The price includes a guide and entry to the museums.

Languages: Finnish, Swedish, and English.

Duration: 1,5h

Independent visits are possible during events and the summer tours. Price without a guide 10€ / person.

Children can enter for free accompanied by an adult.

Tours of the Museums

The Horse Carriage Museum

The Horse Carriage Museum has carriages from the manors in the region all the way from the 18th century. The exhibition consists of 19 carriages and 7 sleighs from small pony carts to big carriages pulled by a team. The museum has harnesses and other equipment from the era, and miniatures of the old forge and workshop.

Home Museum

The Home Museum of the manor has artefacts beginning in the 19th century. The exhibition consists of costumes, accessories, furniture, toys, tools pictures etc. There is also information about the people and families who inhabited the manor.

Manor House

The main building is also available to the public through the guided tours. It was designed by C. F. Bassi.

The main building is located about 300m away from the Home and the Horse Carriage museums. We’ll walk to the main building by foot, and walk up to the second floor by stone steps.

We’ll visit the most beautiful rooms of the main building, where the bygone eras can be perceived.

There are 3 museums at Wiurila: one museum at the main building and the horse carriage and home museums in the central economy building.

The price of a guided tour is 25€/person and the minimum charge is 250€. Therefore the minimum number of people for a tour is 10 people.

Only the home and horse carriage museums are available for independent tours during summer thursdays and saturdays and on special occations.

You can find Wiurila’s horse cariage but also the antique horse carriages from the other local estates. In addition you can find a reconstruction of a carpenter’s and black smith’s work stations there.

In the home museum you can see artifacts and clothing that have been used in Wiurila over time.
